The Evolution of Urban Ministry
Inner City Workers Leading the Battle Against Poverty and the Battle for our Cities
Isaiah 1:26-28; 62:12
February 23-25, 2012
Location
Harding School of Theology
1000 Cherry Road
Memphis, Tennessee 38117
In about two weeks, inner city ministers, workers, will convene in Memphis to become better equipped to battle against the forces of evil in our world. Men and women serving on the streets of our city will come together and proclaim that Jesus is Lord over our cities. These urban or inner city workers live ltheir lives by being "Jesus in skin" as one Hispanic worker put it.
If you are interested in serving in the city or you are serving in the city, the 2012 NUMC is the place to be.
Changes in our cities have presented new challenges to serving the poor and underresourced in our communities. In most cities, working class families have been hit hard by the economy and now need tresources that have traditionally been provided for the poor.
Our cities are in transition and the poor continue to be dispersed away from inner city churches as well as city services.
At the 2012 NUMC, you will learn about new effective models of ministry that are emerging out of the transition that provide hope for the raging battle against evil in our cities.
As Scripture says, "Come and see."
The 2012 NUMC will be held in Memphis at Harding School of Theology February 23-25, 2012.
